Cadaveria, the musician, the band, and their music

During my previous loss of rationality concerning how people can be inaccessible due to their stupidity and self-centrism, I quoted a song. This song is called Atypical Suggestions By A Dead Artist. And the band that performed it is named after the woman who performs its vocals: Cadaveria.

So I have been thinking… what IS accessibility?

I make no secret of the fact that during the couple of years prior to this one, I ended up in contact with people who run several different organisations concerned with better access to society at large for various individuals with various disabilities. And I have seen the word accessibility bandied about with such abandon that the Man From Mars would think that Herd Humanity had decided that it was the new “cooool” catchphrase.

Why I will not watch DVD anymore (aka in praise of BD)

I have written about or referenced a lot of different films in entries prior. That is a given. As I have also written previously, I grew up in a household that was one of the first to have a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) in the house.

Another look at something someone else wrote

Whilst going through links on the Autism Blogs Directory, I went back to the Radical Neurodivergence Speaking journal once again. You sort of have to be in the right mood for this particular journal, because as I have said on my small page of links to things I think people should look at, that author frequently looks at where I am at in terms of asserting my rights, and picks up the pace from there. (Metaphorically speaking, I mean. I am not even convinced that he reads my work.)

So I was reading other people’s journals once again

I make no secret of this. I read other people’s online journals. I read them a lot at times. Not because I want to research “the competition” or because the “everything online” crowd says that is what I have to do. No. The main reason is because in spite of how difficult certain neurological quirks that have never been investigated make it, I like to read. I have learned more, especially as a child, by reading well-written writings than from thousands of hours of teacher effort. But the primary reason I read online journals is pretty funny: they are my primary source of news concerning the struggle to make the world at large understand that we, the autistic, are people, too.

So I am sitting around, thinking to myself about what I am going to write next, and I think to myself “you know, Dean, you have just written about a piece of art that you enjoy by counting and laughing at all of the mistakes, so why not try writing about something you consider good or even great?”. And since I have not written about the recently-realised genius that Michael Allan Patton has been displaying over the last ten to fifteen years, why not?

In a word… Xana-DO!

I go on and on all of the time about things from when I was a boy. That is natural. Hell, I will let you in on a little secret: we all go on and on, all of the time, about things from when we were boys or girls. Even the best of us. What makes the difference, as they say, is the nature of the things from when we were boys or girls that we go on and on about. So in the spirit of trying to take what little sunshine is left in me and do something with it, I am going to ramble a lot about one of the first films I saw when I was a little boy: Xanadu.
