A reflection on diagnosis and teaching

I doubt that anyone who knows me as a person will find it surprising that I am autistic or that I learned such at a relatively late stage in life. But there are things about this that need to be thought about or reflected upon. Sides, issues, and all that hoohah. So for the next page or more, I am going to pour my brains out onto the page and see if you learn anything from it.

Parental unit supremacism.

I frequently see news items in my Fudgebook feed lately that concern the bizarre and frankly disturbingly idiotic behaviours of white supremacists. I have also already written at length concerning what I refer to as child abuse culture (an example can be found here, in my article concerning the abuse that took place on the Hey Dad! set).

Musing about child abuse culture.

Many times during the past year or two, I have read the words “rape culture” online. I have understood this phrase to mean tolerance, condoning, or even encouragement of the act of rape. If I am mistaken, then please feel free to correct me in the comments. The reason I mention this is because reading Dylan Farrow‘s post about her experiences got me to thinking about another disgraceful culture we live in.

A culture of disbelief.

I am not going to lie about this. I do not see parental units of any stripe as being automatically worthy of respect and praise. I do not care what anyone else thinks. Just because you are a parent does not mean I should treat you as if the sun shines out of your arse.

The following is an open letter to both the “Liberal”/National party of Australia and the newly-appointed Prime Minister. In the interests of keeping this as civil as I can, I will refrain from the usual derogatory terms I refer to any of these entities by. Except one that I have already used. Explanation will be forthcoming.

Oh, look. People are taking the side of a (wannabe) murderer again.

So, how many weeks has it been since one brave soul who still has not owned up and thus spread the potential fallout to other neighbours made written threats to an autistic child and his mother? This is a serious question. I would like to be able to state an average concerning the number of identifiable threats the autistic receive from day to day, week to week, and so on.

We already had this conversation. No.

The levels of stupidity that the Human animal as a collective descends into at times is enough to make a grown man cry. It really is. A prime example follows the “jump”.
