Hypoglycaemia: drunk is more fun than this.

One of the films that I have a sort of love-hate relationship with is the Bill Murray-starring black comedy Groundhog Day. I will not go into what that film is about, except to say that on the first occasion when Murray‘s character gets an awfully heightened sense of deja vu, he is asked by his producer if he is drunk. His response is, and I quote, “Drunk’s more fun than this”.

No, I am not happy or well. Thank you for not asking.

I have made a lot of angry, spiteful, and even violent remarks concerning what I see as unjust behaviour on the part of others. That is true. Like, for example, when London police saw fit to force a severely disabled boy who, according to the article, has a mental age of five into handcuffs and leg restraints. As one woman who commented on a Fudgebook link put it, she would really like to hurt people who hurt children and “special needs children”. She asked if this was possibly “mother instincts”, but I disagree. I think this is what I call “decent Human being instincts”. And really, if a police officer things it is somehow warranted to hurt a child in this manner, I suspect perhaps they need to consider another career. Shovelling fish guts, for example.

Now, people out there know full well that I have no kind words to say about the online fad called Fudgebook. But in order to get my voice heard and fight the good fight against normalist tyranny, I must unfortunately make some use of it. One of the persons whom I have in my “friends” list has posted an image that I could not help asking about.

Symbols, flags, and meanings… one of many musings

Not too long ago, I posted an entry that divided its time semi-equally between the injustice of a vigilantist idea of justice and my agreement with another author about how much the puzzle piece symbol sucks. This, to my pleasant surprise, brought about a visit from its author and some commentary about the symbol issue. In my own reply (I am compulsive about replying to everything, with some exceptions), I promised that I would explore symbols and their meanings a little bit further in a future entry. Or rather, I thanked him for giving me that idea, because to be brutally honest, when you churn out three or four entries a day at peak times, your stock of new ideas does sometimes run a tiny bit dry.
