One of the numerous quirks of my neurology is that I do not find it easy to go to places that are unfamiliar to me. Although I love Sydney as a place to live and travel, places like the Valve Bar in George Street in Sydney are slightly problematic when I have never been to them before.

Primer about My DyING BRIDE

As I reread a lot of my work on this journal, it occurs to me that it often swings back and forth between media and political musings. This is for a reason. Put simply, I have a very low supply left of patience for examples of normalist prejudice, and getting bombarded with such day in and day out means sometimes I need to blow off steam by sharing examples of good and unusual media. Usually, those two words, good and unusual, come together.

First of all, I want to apologise to the British ultra-slow doom metal band Esoteric for using one of their best lyrical lines as a title line. The song that this quote is from is the opener on their first album, Epistemological Despondency. The song is more simply titled Bereft, and is basically themed around the collective failure of the Human species to live up to its own promises.

Presentation effects everything you show to me, including cultures.

As is often my wont, I spent a few minutes having a think about aspects of my situation. That means every part of it, including the things I use to distract myself from it. And after one minor crap-exchange during a World Of Warcraft dungeon run with a very ignorant person that I and my party-mate of preference both disliked, I began to think to myself. What do the cultures that other people partake of look like to me, and why?

I think if one looks at the situation quite literally, the autistic civil rights movement as it presently exists and occurs has a bit of a problem. In contrast to the enemy, which is very well-organised and well-directed, the autism civil rights movement is basically a lot of different groups of people meandering about without a clearly defined purpose or even a sense of a decision-making process.
