Autism civil rights has a very big problem. Essentially, so-called activists have decided that one culture, one vision, one order, one purpose, speaks for everyone who is autistic. This is wonderful for those of you who really do think Asshole from Big Nerd Blackface Stereotype Theory represents you. But it is an absolute nightmare for the rest of us.

When things avoid intention, part one: Semantics, and shame

If you are reading this, then take it as proof positive of two things. One, the attempt to put an end to my existence that was promised for a certain date did not go ahead or quite as planned. Exactly what happened is irrelevant. The important point is that I was not found dead.

I will come out and say this off the bat. I do not “get” the hero worship of the director named Christopher Nolan. No, wait, let me rephrase that. I get it just fine. It is just that once I get it, I do not want it anymore. As I have mentioned, I have insulin-dependent diabetes. I have had it since I was a little shy of ten years old, and have been promised an imminent cure ever since. So when I tell you that “…it’s time for my shot…” offended me more in that moment than two Rain Mans put together, I want you to understand my full meaning here. People who crap on that Christopher Nolan is some awesome director who can not do wrong can blow me. Their opinion has less meaning to me than the life of Jenny McCarthy.

Reflections on life, death, and celebrity

Just like regular guys in real-life, celebrities are reported dead all of the time. How these deaths are reported is a fascinating subject in and of itself. For instance, when Frank Zappa died from complications of advanced prostate cancer in 1993, the “oh, by the way” manner in which his death was reported by the media outlets available to me at the time rocked me to the core. I was absolutely perplexed because they were talking about a man whose music continually said to me “it is not just okay to think, it is your civil duty“ in such an off-hand, who-cares way.

First of all, I want to apologise to the British ultra-slow doom metal band Esoteric for using one of their best lyrical lines as a title line. The song that this quote is from is the opener on their first album, Epistemological Despondency. The song is more simply titled Bereft, and is basically themed around the collective failure of the Human species to live up to its own promises.
