Why I have so much trouble with titling my work, or why titles are so important

Good evening, fans, friends, foes, and so on. Okay, I will knock off the whole Monsterpiece Theatre bullshit from this point and just give it to you straight. I have a lot of trouble with deciding upon titles, character names, place names, you name it. If it needs a name for the reader to identify it by, I have trouble with that.

It has been a while since I have written specifically about the “everything has to be online and not paid for even when the people who have made something unique and masterful are starving” culture. You already know my general mood about it: I hate it. But just recently, I became aware of a graphic that is doing the rounds on what I like to refer to as Fudgebook.

Musing about home video again: The Alien Anthology BD set.

As a semi-early adopter of the Blu-ray Disc format, I have noticed two distinct patterns in terms of which releases I will line up to buy next. On the one hand, I will buy a lot of discs where I have heard good things about the film therein (or seen it as a rental) and am willing to take a punt. Examples of that include Crank: High Voltage or Machete. On the other hand, there are films I saw repeatedly as a boy and, since coming to fully grok the benefits of progressive video and lossless audio, have been dying of curiosity to learn how they scrubbed up on the new format. Aliens and the series it is part of (to one extent or another) is an example of that.
