It is not mere semantics.

Where do you people come from? Seriously, I want to know. And yes, I mean “you people” in the most derisive sense. No, wait, what I really mean when I say that (I know my co-GM would raise an eyebrow if she saw me writing those words that way) is “you [are not actually] people [to me]“.

The shameful-ised autistic identity that the curebies wish to push upon us. Why?

I have two things to tell you before we begin. One, this essay will contain repeated and very precision-intended uses of a derisive word for dark-skinned Americans that they themselves often use to deride other dark-skinned Americans who behave in a manner that they find objectionable. Two, this is necessary for making the point that I ended up circling around in this essay. If you do not like it, the door is in that direction. *makes a pointing motion*

Okay, time to say something unpleasant. Whose view means more?

It seems no matter where one goes or where one looks, you can always find some jackass who thinks that what they think overrides the view of the autistic, even when they are not remotely autistic themselves. Call me narrow-minded, but I am struggling to even understand how such a belief works.

Our language: context, tone, and intent all mean something

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. In my previous post, I began to speak about an event that Lydia Brown shared with us on her Fudgebook page in which she was told what words she means. As often happens, writing about this topic caused me to descend into a rage, so I decided to abandon the subject for the time being and instead begin an essay about some of the basics of our language. It is in the hope that some normalistic assholes out there can read it and learn that maybe they do not know everything, and do not deserve to be the sole arbiters of right or wrong.

Why do I have to keep writing about this?

I will level with you for a moment. I frequently read the online journal of one Lydia Brown for a number of different reasons. But one reason is that I like her and admire her for what she does. She makes me think of what I could be doing if certain things in my life had gone a different way. But to be in agreement with another person when they are writing about aspects of living on the autistic spectrum is very heartening indeed for this burned-out shell. Especially when it is this frequently.

Vorya Yarow’s letter to the so-called Autism Advisory Task Force

Vorya Yarow has written a letter to what is called the Autism Advisory Task Force. I do not know if this task force was the same bunch of delusional morons who brought us such great beats as the Combatting Autism Act or Helping Children With Autism (in Australia), but I will give them the benefit of the doubt this time and say they are not.

Symbols, flags, and meanings… one of many musings

Not too long ago, I posted an entry that divided its time semi-equally between the injustice of a vigilantist idea of justice and my agreement with another author about how much the puzzle piece symbol sucks. This, to my pleasant surprise, brought about a visit from its author and some commentary about the symbol issue. In my own reply (I am compulsive about replying to everything, with some exceptions), I promised that I would explore symbols and their meanings a little bit further in a future entry. Or rather, I thanked him for giving me that idea, because to be brutally honest, when you churn out three or four entries a day at peak times, your stock of new ideas does sometimes run a tiny bit dry.
