Two things. One, it is not okay to sympathise with a person who almost killed her child, no matter what the circumstances are. Two, “not everyone is as high-functioning as you” is like saying “not everyone is as white as you” or “not everyone is as literate as you”. It is a total non-sequitor. A woman tried to kill her autistic child. No amount of attempting to demonise that child will ever make that woman a hero, regardless of what normies think. Continue Reading

One friend I have on World Of Warcraft and I have very little in common, but we both love the 1980s British television show The Young Ones. Every episode has something to recommend it. One of the less-quoted jokes from the episode Nasty has Alexei Sayle facing the camera and going into a spiel about how since he has been appearing on television, his Marxist fellows have been accusing him of selling out, making him march at the back at demonstrations, and so forth. As I believe I have made clear before, I was a hyperlexic child. That is, my command of the English level was not merely years but almost a whole decade ahead of where it should be, and remained such until mid to late adolescence, when others began to finally catch up. Continue Reading
Alright. This is the third time I have attempted to write this little document. I seem to be getting no further than declaring that the medicine I have been prescribed in an effort to prevent me from “losing my shit” so often, to use one euphemism is, honestly, not working. Continue Reading

After setting up a little Photobucket account and trying to get to grips with how Photobucket in its present form actually works, I started uploading some photographs that I took or edited in order to provide some examples here. When I first conceived of what you are about to read, I thought I was going to write a post about the music that I listened to whilst I was being treated in an acute-care mental health facility. However, without a context to hang it all on, I find that writing articles about music tends to get boring. And if I get really bored with writing something, I usually take that as a sign that what I am working on is probably not worth the effort. Continue Reading
I have written a lot of strong words about “the autistic problem” in this journal, and elsewhere. Words that I am sure have made many people, even fellow Powell types, gasp in shock. So here is another lot that will likely make jawbones hit knees. Today, the passive side of the autistic community, the pleaders and beggars who have no idea how much they hold us back, have done something that Autism Speaks have spent millions of dollars trying to do, and failed.
